This week's #WELDERSHOWCASE is...

Name: Oliver Adamson
Business Name: Citizen Build

Country/State Location: San Antonio, TX

Socials: IG: @citizen_build
Your Specialties: Custom Architectural Steel - Railings, Fireplaces, Pivot Doors
Tell us about yourself - what inspired you to get into your trade (backstory)? And how long?
I'm the owner/founder of citizen build. We specialize in custom architectural steel. I started learning how to weld from my Dad 13 years ago when I was 20. I was initially inspired by him, and the body work he used to do to restore old vehicles.

What keeps you motivated throughout the day?
One thing that keeps me motivated each day is that we are blessed enough to work alongside with leading architects fabricating great designed products.
What is your favorite shop tool and why?
That would be our Miller 400 dynasty. I love TIG welding!

What's your favorite piece that you've worked on?
We fabricated a custom gate for Willow House in Terlingua Texas - it had all the ingredients for a great project - fun design, great client and awesome location!
What BA product is your favorite and why?
I love the stainless polishing kit!

What BA product surprised you in terms of quality - what about it set it apart from the competition?
All of the flap discs are great, especially the 120 grit. They hold up for a long time, much longer than any other disc I've used.
If there was one person you could collaborate with - who would it be and why?
I would love to collaborate with Olson Kundig architects - they always have some kind of kinetic steel element to their architecture, which would be super fun to work on!

Do you have any advice for the next generation that you wish you had when you first started?
Find something you truly love to do and run with it!
What are your future plans for your shop?
My wife and I are having our first child; so hand down as much knowledge I have on welding and metal fabrication

A Note From Leo
Thanks for sharing your story with us, Oliver! We love seeing architectural welding just as much as we love seeing metal sculptures. We would really like to see you collaborate with OIson and add some kinetic elements to your projects too!
