This week's #WELDERSHOWCASE is...
Name: Spencer Rydman Business Name: Rydman Ranch Co Country/State Location: Sandy, OR. Socials: IG: @rydmanranch FB: @rydmanranch Websites: www.rydmanranch.com Specialties: Chassis, Suspension, CNC Machining, Fabrication |
Tell us about yourself - what inspired you to get into your trade (backstory)? And how long? Rydman Ranch has currently been in business for 5 years and I have personally been working in the Hotrod/Offroad scene now for 15. I've always been drawn to the mechanical aspect of designing and manufacturing parts. Being able to constantly improve and gain knowledge of tooling and operations keeps me pushing new limits.
|
What keeps you motivated throughout the day? What keeps me motivated is the constant changing market. Designing new and improved parts keeps it exciting. |
What is your favorite shop tool and why? It's hard to pick just one, but I would have to say our new Millermatic 255's are a blast to use! |
What's your favorite piece that you've worked on? We just released our Gen2 C10 Chassis and it has been my favorite product to date. It combines all of our latest designs and manufacturing processes. |
If you could have any job as it relates to question 1 what would it be and what would you do with that? I would be doing exactly what I am right now! |
What BA product is your favorite and why? The HD Flap Wheels hands down. |
What BA product surprised you in terms of quality - what about it set it apart from the competition? The BA Carbide bits are the best bang for your dollar I have ever used! They work great and come in a ton of sizes. |
What tips and tricks do you have for us that might be different or eye opening for others to try with BA product? Using BA "Shop Rolls" and our manual lathe, we prep all of our tube work. It's an old simple trick of the trade but it leaves our tubes with a great metal finish. |
If there was one person you could collaborate with - who would it be and why? That's a tough question, there are a lot of talented people these days online. |
Do you have any advice for the next generation that you wish you had when you first started? Show up early, stay late, and always be on the hunt to learn a new skill. If you are interested in becoming a welder don't be afraid to start as a grinder, at the end of the day it all is part of the job. |
What are your future plans for your shop? To continue growing and expanding our capabilities. |
Thanks for sitting with us and sharing your story with the community - is there anything you'd like to add?
Thanks to Benchmark Abrasives for producing a high quality product for a great price! |
