Tell us about yourself - what inspired you to get into your trade? And how long? My name is Kevin Hewitt. I was once a pro skater that ended up with a horrible crash that almost ended my life. For this reason I started welding all together. A new outlook on life . I’ve always been in a trade working with steel or wood. I’ve been fabricating custom bikes since 2017.
|
What keeps you motivated throughout the day? What keeps me motivated is the constant change in styles.. being able to build bicycles that resemble what my life dream has been - custom choppers. |
What is your favorite shop tool and why? My favorite shop tool by far has to be my millermatic 211 welder . Oh and my hydraulic tube bender. |
What's your favorite piece that you've worked on? I’ve had a few best projects to work on , the two best would be (Dirk Diggler) my chopper . Or the (blue rose) these two bikes paved the way for future builds. |
If you could have any job as it relates to question 1 what would it be and what would you do with that? Where I’d like to see myself down the road... would be building bikes full time. |
What BA product is your favorite and why?
My favorite tool from benchmark would have to be the flap disc, they last longer than any other disc I’ve ever used.
|
If there was one person you could collaborate with - who would it be and why?
The one person I’d would love to work with would be Robert Belyea of HB Cruisers
|
Do you have any advice for the next generation that you wish you had when you first started?
Just take your time.
|
What are your future plans for your shop?
As far as future plans, I’d like to expand and sell bikes in shops all over the world.
|
Thanks for sitting with us and sharing your story with the community - is there anything you'd like to add?
Thank you very much for this opportunity to spotlight my company. Much appreciated!
