2" CURVED QUICK CHANGE CERAMIC FLAP DISCS

Benchmark Abrasives 2" curved quick change ceramic flap discs combine high-performance ceramic grinding with a curved design built specifically for fillet welds, inside corners, tight radii, and other hard-to-reach areas. Made with premium European ceramic cloth featuring uniform abrasive particles and a high-performance grain blend, these discs deliver aggressive material removal and can outperform comparable zirconia flap discs by up to 50% on stainless steel, carbon steel alloys, and exotic metals.

The extended curved flaps give you two effective working surfaces in one compact disc. Use the face for conventional grinding and blending, then work with the curved edge to reach weld seams, slag, inside corners, and radiused joints that a standard flat flap disc cannot follow effectively. Self-sharpening ceramic grain continually exposes fresh cutting edges as it wears, helping maintain a sharp, aggressive cut throughout demanding grinding applications.

Produced on computer-controlled equipment and subjected to multiple quality and safety tests, these discs are designed for consistent performance from disc to disc. The compact 2" size delivers excellent control in localized areas, while the Type R quick change attachment makes abrasive changes fast when moving between grinding, blending, and surface preparation steps.

Materials & Applications

Common Materials

  • Cast Iron
  • Carbon Steel
  • Stainless Steel
  • Steel Alloys
  • Titanium
  • Nickel
  • Wrought Iron
  • Copper
  • Fiberglass
  • Plastic
  • Hard Rubber
  • Wood
  • Stone

Common Applications

  • Fillet weld grinding and finishing
  • Inside corner grinding
  • Weld seam cleanup
  • Slag removal
  • Weld blending
  • Aggressive stock removal
  • Surface preparation
  • Deburring
  • Edge cleanup
  • Contour grinding
  • Blending around radiused joints
  • Grinding in narrow or hard-to-reach areas

Choose the least aggressive grit that removes material efficiently, then move to finer grits as the job transitions from grinding into blending and surface refinement.

Machine Compatibility

Designed for rotary sanding and grinding tools using a matching 2" Type R backing pad.

Recommended Benchmark Abrasives Tools

  • Benchmark Abrasives Right Angle Pneumatic Quick Change Sander
  • Benchmark Abrasives Pneumatic Quick Change Sander – Pistol Grip

Also suitable for properly matched die grinders, electric drills, hand-held pneumatic grinders, and other compatible rotary tools using the correct holder and speed rating.

Safety Tips

  • Inspect the disc and holder before each use
  • Fully secure the disc to the Type R holder before operating
  • Never exceed the maximum RPM of the lowest-rated component
  • Use dry only
  • Use only the face and curved abrasive edge as intended
  • Use a lighter touch or feathered approach when less stock removal is required
  • Wear proper eye, hearing, respiratory, and hand protection.
  • Keep all machine guards in place
  • Follow the tool manufacturer's operating and safety instructions

Frequently Asked Questions

Use a matching 2" Type R holder. Compatible choices include the Benchmark Abrasives BMT-QC90 Right Angle and BMT-QCPG Pistol Grip Quick Change Sanders. Other verified examples include Milwaukee 2485-20, 2486-20, and 2984-20 when fitted with a suitable 1/4" shank holder. Always confirm the tool’s accessory capacity and the RPM rating of the complete assembly.
The curved abrasive edge lets you reach fillet welds, inside corners, radiused joints, and other areas that are difficult to grind effectively with a standard flat flap disc.
Yes. The flat face is used for conventional grinding and blending, while the curved abrasive edge is designed to work into weld seams, slag, inside corners, and curved joints.
Ceramic grain continually exposes fresh cutting edges as it wears, helping maintain an aggressive cut on stainless steel, carbon steel alloys, and exotic metals.
As the abrasive wears, fresh cutting edges are continually exposed rather than the grain simply becoming dull. This helps maintain aggressive cutting performance throughout the disc's usable life.
Choose the curved version when the job involves fillet welds, inside corners, tight radii, or contours. A standard mini flap disc is generally better when most of the work is performed with the face of the disc.
The compact diameter gives you excellent access and control around welds, contours, edges, smaller fabricated parts, and confined work areas.
Use a matching 2" Type R quick change backing pad. The holder is sold separately.
No. These ceramic curved flap discs are intended for dry use only.
Available grits are 36, 40, 60, 80, and 120.
No. 25,000 RPM is the maximum rated speed. Never exceed the RPM rating of the lowest-rated component in the disc, holder, and tool assembly.
