4" X 1/16" X 3/8" T1 PREMIUM THIN CUT-OFF WHEEL - 25 PACK

Benchmark Abrasives 4" x 1/16" x 3/8" T1 Premium Thin Cut-Off Wheels deliver a strong balance of cutting reach, control, and wheel thickness for everyday metal fabrication. The 4" diameter reaches deeper than smaller 2" and 3" wheels, while the 1/16" profile keeps the cut narrow and controlled for efficient cutting across a wide range of shop and field applications.

Made with aluminum oxide abrasive grain, these flat Type 1 wheels are designed for cutting steel, stainless steel, and other approved metals. They are an excellent choice for cutting tubing, pipe, sheet metal, fasteners, and fabricated assemblies where a compact cutting setup offers better access than larger angle-grinder wheels.

The 3/8" arbor expands the wheel's versatility beyond dedicated cut-off tools. Pair it with the Benchmark Abrasives BM-M38_1 Cut-Off Wheel Mandrel for use on compatible straight die grinders that operate within the wheel's 22,000 RPM maximum and meet the required mounting and guarding conditions.

Bottom line, these cut off wheels offer LESS cutting resistance for fast work, LESS work piece waste, LESS vibration, LESS burrs and sparks and LESS dust than the competition

Machine Compatibility

Designed for compatible guarded cut-off tools and straight die grinders that meet the wheel's 4" diameter, 3/8" arbor, mounting, guarding, and 22,000 RPM maximum requirements.

For straight die grinder applications, use the Benchmark Abrasives BM-M38_1 Cut-Off Wheel Mandrel with the correct 3/8" mounting option.

Compatible examples include:

  • Chicago Pneumatic® CP9116 (14,000 RPM), using its 4" guard and correct 3/8" wheel clamping hardware
  • Compatible straight die grinders using the BM-M38_1 Cut-Off Wheel Mandrel, provided the complete setup does not exceed the wheel's 22,000 RPM maximum

Always verify wheel diameter, arbor size, maximum RPM, mandrel rating, mounting hardware, and guard configuration before operation.

Safety Tips

  • Use this wheel for cutting only. Never grind with the side of the wheel.
  • Never exceed the wheel's 22,000 RPM maximum speed.
  • Verify the maximum operating speed of the complete tool, mandrel, and wheel setup before use.
  • Always use the correct guard, flanges, mandrel, and mounting hardware for the machine.
  • Inspect the wheel before use and do not operate cracked, chipped, damaged, or improperly stored wheels.
  • Keep the wheel straight in the cut and avoid side loading.
  • Do not force the wheel through the workpiece.
  • Wear appropriate eye and face protection, hearing protection, gloves, and other PPE required for the application.

Frequently Asked Questions

The 1/16" profile offers a useful balance between a narrow cut and a more substantial wheel than ultra-thin .040" options, making it well suited for general fabrication and metal-cutting work.
No. This is a Type 1 cut-off wheel designed specifically for edge cutting. Do not apply grinding pressure to the side of the wheel.
Yes. The 3/8" arbor can be mounted with the Benchmark Abrasives BM-M38_1 Cut-Off Wheel Mandrel using the correct 3/8" mounting option. The grinder, mandrel, guard, and complete setup must be suitable for bonded cut-off wheel use and must not exceed 22,000 RPM.
No. The Benchmark Abrasives Straight Pneumatic Die Grinder is rated at 25,000 RPM, which exceeds this wheel's 22,000 RPM limit. Use a suitable guarded cut-off tool, such as the 14,000 RPM Chicago Pneumatic® CP9116, with the correct mounting hardware.
It is intended for steel, stainless steel, and other metals specifically approved for the wheel.
Type 1 is the flat cut-off wheel designation used for this Benchmark Abrasives product. Type 41 is another commonly used industry designation for flat reinforced cut-off wheels.
