Flap Wheel Abrasive Buffing Drum

The 3-1/2" x 4" Rubber Expanding Drum from Benchmark Abrasives is built for sanding setups that demand flexibility without constant tool changes. When paired with sanding bands, it allows operators to move between grits and materials quickly while keeping the same machine in service.

The drum is formed from resilient rubber engineered to respond to rotational force during operation. As speed increases, the body of the drum applies outward pressure to secure the sanding band evenly around the surface. Once rotation stops, the drum relaxes, making band removal straightforward and tool-free.

This design supports consistent sanding performance while minimizing downtime between steps. Instead of stopping to change attachments, users can shift from rough removal to surface refinement in seconds—keeping workflow moving and hands off the wrench drawer.

With a full 4-inch sanding width, the expanding drum delivers broad surface contact when used with sanding bands, helping reduce the number of passes needed on flat faces, edges, and curved profiles. Safety Tips & Techniques:

• Apply light pressure and let the tool do the work. Bearing down on the tool will result in reduced tool life.
• Always wear proper PPE to include (but not limited to) safety glasses, hearing protection, respirator, and hand protection. Keep all guards in place on your machine.
• Avoid use on electric power drills; the slower speeds can result in chipping of your workpiece.
