ECONOMY TITANIUM COATED STEP DRILL BIT 3/16"–7/8" – 12 STEPS

Create 12 clean, precise hole sizes from 3/16" through 7/8" with one economy TiN-coated step drill bit. Designed for drilling and enlarging holes in thin materials, this bit eliminates repeated drill-bit changes while producing clean, controlled holes in sheet metal, aluminum, copper, plastic, wood, and other compatible materials. Its 1/4" quick-change shank is optimized for impact-driver use while also working with compatible electric rotary drills.

The high-speed steel body features a titanium nitride (TiN) coating for enhanced cutting speed and wear resistance, while the self-centering split point helps reduce walking as the cut begins. A spiral double-flute design improves chip removal and helps extend cutting life, and the stepped profile progressively drills and reams the hole to the desired diameter in one operation. Ideal for clean hole-making in metal up to 1/4" thick and other thin materials.

Safety Tips

• Wear eye protection and appropriate hearing and respiratory protection. Keep gloves and loose clothing away from rotating parts.
• Secure or clamp the workpiece before drilling.
• Keep the bit at approximately 90° to the work surface.
• Progress through the steps gradually rather than forcing the bit.
• Use steady pressure and allow the cutting edges to do the work.
• Select drilling speed according to the material and hole diameter.
• Use an appropriate cutting lubricant when drilling metals.
• Periodically clear chips to reduce heat buildup.
• Do not use hammer action when drilling with a hammer drill/driver.
