1-1/2" X 1-1/2" SURFACE CONDITIONING SPIRAL BANDS, 10 PACK
Benchmark Abrasives 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" surface conditioning spiral bands are designed for blending, light deburring, cleaning, and surface refinement on broader metal surfaces and contours. The larger 1-1/2" diameter and width provide more working area than the smaller spiral band sizes, making this size well suited to larger localized surfaces while still conforming to curved workpieces.
The flexible nonwoven abrasive construction provides controlled surface conditioning without the aggressive stock-removal action of a conventional coated abrasive band. Available in Coarse, Medium, and Fine grades, these bands cover heavier cleanup and blending through finer scratch refinement and finishing preparation.

Product Features
Flexible nonwoven construction conforms to curved and contoured surfaces
Designed for blending, cleaning, light deburring, and surface refinement
Larger 1-1/2" diameter provides increased contact on broader contours
1-1/2" axial width covers more surface with each pass
Coarse, Medium, and Fine grades cover different levels of surface conditioning
Replaceable bands mount over the matching rubber expanding drum
Make sure the band is fully seated and supported by the correctly sized expanding drum.
Inspect the band and drum before use and replace damaged or excessively worn components.
Do not allow the spiral band to extend beyond the supporting drum.
Use light, controlled pressure and allow the nonwoven material to conform to the work surface.
Follow the speed limits for the band, expanding drum, and power tool. Never exceed the rating of the lowest-rated component.
Wear appropriate eye, hearing, respiratory, and hand protection for the material and application.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. Each package contains 10 surface conditioning spiral bands. The matching 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" Rubber Expanding Drum is sold separately.
The maximum speed is 15,000 RPM when this 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" surface conditioning spiral band is mounted on the matching expanding drum. Always follow the lowest RPM rating shown on the band, drum, and power tool.
Coarse is associated with approximately 60-80 grit and is best for heavier cleanup, aggressive blending, rough deburring, and surface preparation.
Medium is approximately 100-150 grit for general blending, weld-area cleanup, light deburring, and surface prep.
Fine is approximately 320-400 grit for final blending, scratch refinement, finishing preparation, and smoother surfaces.
Aluminum oxide, zirconia, and ceramic spiral bands are coated abrasives intended primarily for sanding and material removal. Surface conditioning spiral bands use a flexible nonwoven construction and are better suited to blending, cleaning, light deburring, and refining the surface.
Choose this size when you want more surface contact and coverage than the smaller surface conditioning bands provide. Its larger diameter and width make it better suited to broader contours and larger localized areas.
Yes. Stainless steel is included in the material range for these Surface Conditioning Spiral Bands.
Wet-use approval has not been established for this product. Use them for dry applications unless product-specific wet-use instructions are provided.
Mount the band on the matching 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" rubber expanding drum, which has a 1/4" shank for compatible die grinders and rotary drills. Make sure the tool accepts a 1/4" shank and stays within the 15,000 RPM maximum for the band-and-drum assembly.
