The 4-1/2" x 4" Interleaf Abrasive Drum from Benchmark Abrasives is designed for mid-stage surface preparation where both refinement and material control are required. It bridges the gap between aggressive grinding and fine finishing, making it well suited for parts that need cleanup without losing surface integrity.

This drum features a layered abrasive layout that alternates between coated abrasive flaps and nonwoven conditioning material. The combination creates a steady, predictable cutting action that smooths and evens the surface as it works, rather than removing material in a single aggressive pass.

As the drum rotates, the different abrasive layers work together to level weld areas, soften scratch patterns, and clean oxidized surfaces while maintaining consistent results. The construction allows the drum to run cooler during extended use, helping preserve finish quality on heat-sensitive materials.

With a full 4-inch working width, the interleaf drum increases coverage on flat and contoured surfaces alike, reducing rework and improving efficiency on larger components. It is commonly used for coating removal, surface blending, and preparation prior to final finishing or polishing operations.

Safety Tips & Techniques:

• Apply light pressure and let the tool do the work. Bearing down on the tool will result in reduced tool life.
• Always wear proper PPE to include (but not limited to) safety glasses, hearing protection, respirator, and hand protection. Keep all guards in place on your machine.
• Avoid use on electric power drills; the slower speeds can result in chipping of your workpiece.
