SM-1L Pointed Cone Shape Premium Tungsten Carbide Burr
Product Specification
SM-1L POINTED CONE SHAPE PREMIUM TUNGSTEN CARBIDE BURR– ¼” shank
SM-1L cone burrs are great for narrow contours, surface machining and getting at rounded edge and surface processing in small places. Due to the extreme hardness of this tungsten carbide, it can be used on much more demanding jobs than HSS (High-Speed Steel). These carbide burrs are made of tungsten carbide burr die grinder bits and will start to soften at higher temperatures, so carbide is always the best choice for long-term performance. The extended 6” shaft length is ideal for hard-to-reach deburring applications.
Double cut or Cross cut carbide burrs tend to be used on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, soft steel, and also for all non-metal materials such as stone, plastics, hard wood, and ceramic. Double cut burrs will leave a slightly smoother finish than single cut due to producing smaller chips as they cut away the material. Use for medium stock removal, deburring, finishing, and cleaning. A double-cut carbide burr is the most popular cut and will see you through most applications.

Safety Tips & Techniques:
- Tool speed will be determined by the material you are using your burr on. If you are experiencing chipping, you are most likely operating at too high of speed for the application. Start with a slower speed and increase as you go along until you achieve the best results
- Apply light pressure and let the tool do the work. Bearing down on the tool will result in reduced tool life and a dull burr.
- Always wear proper PPE to include (but not limited to) safety glasses, hearing protection, respirator, and hand protection. Keep all guards in place on your machine.
- Avoid use on electric power drills; the slower speeds can result in chipping of your workpiece.
