4-1/2" X 1/8" X 7/8" T27 PIPELINE WHEEL - 25 PACK

Benchmark Abrasives 4-1/2" x 1/8" x 7/8" T27 pipeline wheels are built for the demanding cut-and-grind work common in welding, pipe fabrication, structural steel, and field repair. Unlike thin cut-off wheels that are limited strictly to edge cutting, this 1/8" pipeline wheel is designed for both cutting and light grinding, giving fabricators a versatile option for moving from the cut directly into cleanup and light material removal.

Made with aluminum oxide abrasive grain, the Type 27 depressed-center construction combines a substantial 1/8" wheel profile with the maneuverability of a 4-1/2" angle grinder. It is designed for steel, stainless steel, and other approved metals and is especially useful for pipe, tubing, weldments, structural components, and fabrication work where switching abrasives between cutting and light grinding slows the job down.

With a 7/8" arbor and a 13,500 RPM maximum rating, this wheel is designed for compatible 4-1/2" angle grinders equipped with the proper guard, flanges, and mounting setup for the operation being performed. Pair it with the Benchmark Abrasives 4-1/2" angle grinder for an all-Benchmark cutting and light-grinding setup.

Bottom line, these cut off wheels offer LESS cutting resistance for fast work, LESS work piece waste, LESS vibration, LESS burrs and sparks and LESS dust than the competition.

Product Features

  • Combination-duty design for cutting and light grinding
  • 1/8" thickness provides more wheel body than thin cut-off wheels
  • Type 27 depressed-center profile for angle grinder applications
  • Aluminum oxide abrasive grain for steel, stainless steel, and approved metals
  • 4-1/2" diameter for maneuverable fabrication and pipeline work
  • 7/8" arbor for compatible angle grinder mounting setups
  • Rated up to 13,500 RPM
  • Reduces abrasive changes when a job requires both cutting and light cleanup

Materials & Applications

Recommended Materials:

  • Steel
  • Stainless Steel
  • Other approved metals

Best For:

  • Pipe fabrication
  • Tubing
  • Weldments
  • Structural steel
  • Cutting metal sections
  • Light weld cleanup
  • Bevel and edge cleanup
  • Field fabrication
  • Maintenance and repair work

Machine Compatibility

Designed for compatible 4-1/2" angle grinders that accept a 7/8" arbor Type 27 wheel and are equipped with the proper guard, flanges, and mounting hardware for the operation being performed.

Compatible examples include:

  • Benchmark Abrasives BMT-AGBC4570 4-1/2" Angle Grinder (11,000 RPM)
  • Makita® 9557PB / 9557PBX1 (11,000 RPM)
  • DEWALT® DWE402 (11,000 RPM)
  • Bosch® GWS10-45 (11,500 RPM)
  • Metabo® WEPBA 17-125 Quick RT DS (10,000 RPM, North American version)
  • Milwaukee® 2880-20 (8,500 RPM)

Use the guard and Type 27 mounting setup specified for the operation. Cutting and light grinding may require different guards; a wheel change may not be needed, but a guard change can be.

Match the 4-1/2" diameter, 1/8" thickness and 7/8" arbor, and use a machine rated no higher than 13,500 RPM. Other models may also be compatible when they meet the same wheel and setup requirements.

Cutting & Grinding Performance

The 1/8" pipeline design is the key difference between this wheel and a thin Type 27 cut-off wheel. It is specifically approved for cutting and light grinding, allowing operators to cut through the workpiece and then perform light edge, bevel, or weld cleanup without immediately changing abrasives.

Use the wheel within its intended combination-duty role. For heavier stock removal or sustained face grinding, move to a dedicated Type 27 grinding wheel designed for that application.

Safety Tips

  • This wheel is approved for cutting and light grinding.
  • Do not treat it as a substitute for a dedicated heavy-grinding wheel.
  • Never exceed the wheel's 13,500 RPM maximum speed.
  • Always use the proper guard for the wheel shape and operation.
  • Use the correct flanges and mounting hardware specified by the grinder manufacturer.
  • Inspect the wheel before use and do not operate cracked, chipped, damaged, or improperly stored wheels.
  • Keep the wheel controlled during cutting and avoid excessive twisting or side loading.
  • Use appropriate grinding pressure only within the wheel's light-grinding application.
  • Wear appropriate eye and face protection, hearing protection, gloves, and other PPE required for the application.

Frequently Asked Questions

A pipeline wheel is a thicker Type 27 bonded abrasive designed for combination-duty work. This 1/8" wheel is specifically intended for cutting and light grinding, making it useful for pipe, welding, and fabrication applications.
Yes. Unlike thin Type 27 cut-off wheels, this 1/8" pipeline wheel is approved for light grinding as well as cutting.
Not for heavy grinding. The pipeline wheel is designed for cutting and light grinding. Use a dedicated grinding wheel for aggressive or sustained stock removal.
Compatible examples include Benchmark Abrasives BMT-AGBC4570 (11,000 RPM), Makita® 9557PB / 9557PBX1 (11,000 RPM), DEWALT® DWE402 (11,000 RPM), Bosch® GWS10-45 (11,500 RPM), Metabo® WEPBA 17-125 Quick RT DS (10,000 RPM, North American version), and Milwaukee® 2880-20 (8,500 RPM). Each needs an approved 4-1/2" Type 27 setup for this 7/8" arbor wheel. Use the guard and Type 27 mounting setup specified for the operation. Cutting and light grinding may require different guards; a wheel change may not be needed, but a guard change can be. Other models may also be compatible when they meet the same wheel and setup requirements.
It is intended for steel, stainless steel, and other metals specifically approved for the wheel.
The maximum wheel speed is 13,500 RPM.
