7" X 1/8" X 7/8" T27 PIPELINE WHEEL - 25 PACK

Benchmark Abrasives 7" x 1/8" x 7/8" T27 pipeline wheels are built for demanding fabrication and pipe work where operators need both cutting and light grinding from the same wheel. The 7" diameter provides significantly more reach and cutting depth than smaller grinder wheels, making it well suited for larger pipe, structural sections, weldments, and fabricated assemblies.

Made with aluminum oxide abrasive grain, the 1/8" Type 27 depressed-center construction gives the wheel enough body for combination-duty work without moving into a full 1/4" grinding-wheel profile. That makes it a practical option for cutting through metal and then performing light edge cleanup, bevel work, or weld refinement without immediately changing abrasives.

With a 7/8" arbor and a maximum speed of 8,600 RPM, this wheel is designed for compatible 7" angle grinders equipped with the proper guard, flanges, and mounting configuration for the operation being performed. It is specifically a pipeline-style combination wheel—not a thin cutting-only disc and not a substitute for a dedicated heavy-grinding wheel.

Bottom line, these cut off wheels offer LESS cutting resistance for fast work, LESS work piece waste, LESS vibration, LESS burrs and sparks and LESS dust than the competition.

Materials & Applications

Recommended Materials:

  • Steel
  • Stainless Steel
  • Other approved metals

Best For:

  • Large pipe
  • Tubing
  • Structural steel
  • Weldments
  • Fabricated assemblies
  • Cutting metal sections
  • Light weld cleanup
  • Bevel and edge cleanup
  • Field fabrication
  • Maintenance and repair work

Machine Compatibility

Designed for compatible 7" angle grinders that accept a 7/8" arbor Type 27 wheel and are approved for the required cutting and light-grinding setup.

Compatible examples include:

  • Makita® GA7031Y (8,500 RPM)
  • Makita® GA7060 (8,500 RPM)
  • Makita® GA7021 (6,600 RPM)
  • Milwaukee® 2785-20 (6,600 RPM)

Match the 7" diameter, 1/8" thickness and 7/8" arbor, and use the manufacturer's Type 27 mounting hardware with a machine rated no higher than 8,600 RPM. Other models may also be compatible when they meet the same wheel and setup requirements.

Use the guard and Type 27 mounting setup specified for the operation. Cutting and light grinding may require different guards; a wheel change may not be needed, but a guard change can be.

Cutting & Grinding Performance

The 1/8" pipeline profile is what separates this wheel from thin Type 27 cut-off wheels. It is designed for both cutting and light grinding, allowing the operator to cut through the workpiece and then perform light edge, bevel, or weld cleanup with the same wheel.

The larger 7" diameter also provides additional reach for pipe, structural steel, and fabricated components that may be difficult to access efficiently with smaller grinder wheels.

For aggressive or sustained stock removal, use a dedicated Type 27 grinding wheel rather than treating the pipeline wheel as a heavy-grinding wheel.

Safety Tips

  • This wheel is approved for cutting and light grinding.
  • Do not use it as a substitute for a dedicated heavy-grinding wheel.
  • Never exceed the wheel's 8,600 RPM maximum speed.
  • Use only on machines specifically approved for 7" bonded abrasive wheels.
  • Always use the proper guard for the wheel shape and operation.
  • Use the correct flanges and mounting hardware specified by the grinder manufacturer.
  • Inspect the wheel before use and do not operate cracked, chipped, damaged, or improperly stored wheels.
  • Maintain control during cutting and avoid excessive twisting or side loading.
  • Use appropriate grinding pressure only within the wheel's light-grinding application.
  • Wear appropriate eye and face protection, hearing protection, gloves, and other PPE required for the application.

Frequently Asked Questions

A pipeline wheel is a thicker Type 27 bonded abrasive designed for combination-duty work. This 1/8" wheel is specifically intended for cutting and light grinding.
Yes. Unlike thin Type 27 cut-off wheels, this 1/8" pipeline wheel is approved for light grinding as well as cutting.
The 7" diameter provides greater cutting reach and depth than smaller grinder wheels, making it especially useful for larger pipe, structural sections, and fabricated assemblies.
Not for heavy grinding. This pipeline wheel is intended for cutting and light grinding. Use a dedicated grinding wheel for aggressive or sustained stock removal.
Compatible examples include Makita® GA7031Y and GA7060 (8,500 RPM), Makita® GA7021 (6,600 RPM), and Milwaukee® 2785-20 (6,600 RPM). Each needs an approved 7" Type 27 setup for this 7/8" arbor wheel. Use the guard and Type 27 mounting setup specified for the operation. Cutting and light grinding may require different guards; a wheel change may not be needed, but a guard change can be. Other models may also be compatible when they meet the same wheel and setup requirements.
It is intended for steel, stainless steel, and other metals specifically approved for the wheel.
The maximum wheel speed is 8,600 RPM.
