1-1/2" SURFACE CONDITIONING QUICK CHANGE DISCS - 25 PACK

Benchmark Abrasives 1-1/2" surface conditioning quick change discs combine flexible nonwoven abrasive material with a Type R quick-change attachment (Equivalent to 3M™ Roloc™ fastening system) for fast, controlled cleaning, blending, light deburring, and finishing. The open nylon web is filled with aluminum oxide abrasive and conforms to contoured and irregular surfaces, making these compact discs especially effective where larger abrasives cannot reach or provide the same level of control.

Available in coarse, medium, and fine grades, the 1-1/2" diameter is ideal for localized surface preparation, tight spaces, small contours, and detailed metal finishing. The quick-change attachment makes switching grades or replacing worn discs fast, helping move efficiently from stronger cleaning and oxidation removal to finer blending and finish refinement.

Performance

The flexible open-web construction conforms to curves, contours, and irregular surfaces while providing controlled abrasive action. The compact 1-1/2" diameter gives the operator precise access to smaller work areas where a 2" or 3" disc may be too large.

Choose Coarse for stronger cleaning and surface preparation, Medium for general blending and refinement, and Fine for lighter finishing. Final surface appearance depends on the selected grade, starting surface, workpiece material, operating speed, pressure, and technique.

Machine Compatibility

Designed for compatible die grinders and hand-held pneumatic quick-change sanders equipped with a 1-1/2" Type R quick-change holder or mandrel.

Recommended Benchmark Abrasives tools include:

  • Benchmark Abrasives Right Angle Pneumatic Quick Change Sander
  • Benchmark Abrasives Pistol Grip Pneumatic Quick Change Sander

Always use the correctly sized Type R mounting accessory and verify that the disc, holder, and tool are all rated for the operating speed.

Safety Tips

  • Use a compatible 1-1/2" Type R quick-change holder or mandrel.
  • Verify that the disc is fully engaged with the holder before starting the tool.
  • Never exceed the disc's 25,000 RPM maximum speed or the rating of the lowest-rated component in the assembly.
  • Inspect the disc and mounting accessory for damage or excessive wear before use.
  • Wear appropriate eye, hearing, respiratory, and hand protection.
  • Use controlled pressure and allow the abrasive to do the work.
  • Follow the operating and safety instructions supplied with the power tool and mounting accessory.

Frequently Asked Questions

Their compact diameter makes them especially useful for tight spaces, small contours, localized surface preparation, detail work, and areas where larger quick-change discs provide less access or control.
Coarse provides stronger cleaning and surface preparation, Medium is suited for general blending and refinement, and Fine provides lighter abrasive action for finish refinement.
Yes. They are designed for surface cleaning and can remove light rust and oxidation while also blending and refining the underlying metal surface.
These are surface conditioning abrasives intended for cleaning, blending, light deburring, and finish refinement rather than heavy stock removal. Use an appropriate grinding or coated abrasive for substantial weld removal, then follow with a surface conditioning disc for refinement.
Use a compatible 1-1/2" Type R quick-change holder or mandrel. The mounting accessory is sold separately.
No. They use a Type R quick-change attachment and require a compatible Type R holder or mandrel.
The maximum rated speed for the disc is 25,000 RPM. The complete assembly must also remain within the speed rating of the holder and power tool.
