Product Specification
4-1/2" X 7/8" SURFACE PREPARATION WHEEL
Benchmark Abrasives 4-1/2" x 7/8" Surface Preparation Wheels are designed for controlled cleaning, blending, scratch refinement, and finishing with the coverage and control of a full-size angle-grinder accessory. The non-woven abrasive construction conforms to the work surface, helping condition metal and refine existing scratch patterns without the aggressive stock removal of a conventional coated abrasive disc.
Choose Fine maroon aluminum oxide when more cleaning and scratch blending are required, or Very Fine gray silicon carbide for lighter finishing and a finer satin surface. Both grades use a Type 27 profile with a 7/8" center bore and plastic backing, making them suited to compatible 4-1/2" angle grinders using the correct centering flange and clamping hardware.
Quantity: 1 Wheel

Machine Compatibility
Designed for compatible 4-1/2" angle grinders that accept 7/8" bore accessories and have a maximum speed no higher than 13,300 RPM.
Recommended Benchmark Abrasives Tool:
- Benchmark Abrasives 4-1/2" Angle Grinder
The Benchmark Abrasives 4-1/2" Angle Grinder (BMT-AGBC4570_1) accepts 7/8" bore wheels and runs at 11,000 RPM, below this wheel's 13,300 RPM maximum.
This wheel has a 7/8" center bore. Mount it with the grinder's correct centering flange, clamping hardware, and guard; it does not thread directly onto the spindle.
Maximum Wheel Speed: 13,300 RPM
Tips for Better Performance
- Use light, controlled pressure and allow the non-woven abrasive to condition the surface.
- Keep the wheel moving to maintain a consistent blended finish.
- Choose Fine when more cleaning and scratch refinement are required.
- Choose Very Fine when the goal is lighter finishing or a finer satin appearance.
- Avoid excessive pressure, which can slow the tool and reduce control.
- Test on a small area when matching an existing finish.
Safety Tips & Techniques
- Never exceed the maximum operating speed of 13,300 RPM.
- Verify that the grinder is designed for the wheel diameter and accessory type.
- Use the correct centering flange, clamping hardware, and guard.
- Confirm that the wheel is properly seated before operating the tool.
- Inspect the wheel before use and replace damaged or excessively worn accessories.
- Secure the workpiece before beginning.
- Use light, controlled pressure.
- Always wear appropriate eye, hearing, respiratory, and hand protection.
- Follow the tool manufacturer's operating and safety instructions.
Accessory rated speed must meet or exceed the tool's maximum speed; selecting a lower operating speed does not by itself establish compatibility.
