In our interview with Jason Hurst he let y’all in on a little secret, he keeps three 4-1/2" angle grinders loaded up with his most used items he calls “The Holy Trinity of Grinders”. One grinder set for cutting with a Benchmark 4X ceramic cutting wheel, one grinder set up for griding (he leans towards flap discs over grinding wheels) and the final grinder set up with a wire wheel to rip rust and paint without mercy.

4-1/2" X .040 X 7/8" T1 High Performance 4X ceramic cutting wheel provides premium performance and increases productivity. This disc is designed for use in angle grinders and is ideal for all types of metal/stainless steel materials. These Cut off Wheels are designed for cutting Fiberglass, Steel, Iron, Plastic, Stainless Steel, and other Ferrous Metals. These wheels are internally reinforced with high tensile strength fiberglass.

Bottom line, these cut off wheels offer LESS cutting resistance for fast work, LESS work piece waste, LESS vibration, LESS burrs and sparks and LESS dust than the competition.

4-1/2" x 7/8" T29 Zirconia High Density Flap Disc uses premium European zirconia cloth and packs 40 % more abrasive per flap than standard discs, giving you aggressive stock removal and smooth blending on any metal; its layered design constantly reveals fresh, self-sharpening grains that endure higher heat and pressure than aluminum oxide for longer life. Built on computer-controlled machines and rigorously tested for safety, the disc’s 15° angled face is ideal for grinding flat welds and plate, while our flat-face T27 version excels on contoured surfaces.

4-1/2" Stringer Bead Wire Wheel packs extra-narrow, twist-knot carbon-steel wires that stay razor-sharp under high impact, making it ideal for cleaning weld passes, stripping scale and spatter, and tackling rust or heavy corrosion on ferrous metals, concrete, and masonry. Its aggressive crimped design delivers heavy-duty surface preparation on smooth surfaces in any orientation, while the 5/8″-11 spin-on hub ensures fast, secure mounting for welders and fabricators.

Safety Tips:

• For less stock removal try using a lighter touch or a feathered approach to your grinding. Flap discs are like grinding wheels with power steering!
• Always wear proper PPE to include (but not limited to) safety glasses, hearing protection, respirator, and hand protection.  Keep all guards in place on your machine.
