2" FELT POLISHING QUICK CHANGE DISCS - 10 PACK

Bring a complete polishing process into tight spaces with our 2" felt polishing quick change discs. The dense felt face provides a controlled surface for carrying buffing compound, while the compact 2" diameter makes it easy to polish corners, contours, small parts, and localized areas that are difficult to reach with conventional buffing wheels. The R-Type quick-change connection also makes disc changes fast when moving between compounds or polishing stages.

Unlike an abrasive disc with a fixed grit, the polishing stage is determined primarily by the compound applied to the felt. Use the appropriate cutting compound for initial refinement, then move through intermediate and finishing compounds as needed. This makes felt quick-change discs a complete polishing media for die grinders and quick-change sanders, capable of supporting the full cut → polish → finish process.

Quantity: 10 Discs

  • R-Type connection allows quick disc changes
  • Works with cutting, intermediate, coloring, and finishing compounds
  • No fixed abrasive grit—the compound determines the level of cut and finish
  • 10-pack makes it easy to dedicate separate discs to different compounds
  • Reusable when kept clean and properly stored
  • Maximum operating speed of 25,000 RPM

Machines Used On

Designed for use with a compatible 2" Type R quick-change backing pad or rubber mandrel on:

  • Pneumatic die grinders
  • Right-angle die grinders
  • Quick-change sanders
  • Other compatible rotary tools using the proper Type R mounting system

The compact disc and handheld tool combination is especially useful when access, portability, and control are important.

Materials & Applications

Best For

Materials & Applications

Best For

  • Stainless steel
  • Steel
  • Aluminum
  • Brass
  • Copper
  • Other ferrous and non-ferrous metals
  • Compatible plastics and acrylics

Common Applications

  • Multi-stage metal polishing
  • Initial cutting with the appropriate compound
  • Intermediate polishing and luster development
  • Final coloring and high-gloss finishing
  • Tight-area polishing
  • Small parts and localized surfaces
  • Curves, contours, and difficult-to-reach areas

Polishing Performance

Cut Compound Dependent
Gloss Compound Dependent – Very High
Stage Cutting → Intermediate Polish → Final Finish
Felt Firmness Medium-Firm / Controlled
Best For Complete multi-stage polishing in small and difficult-to-reach areas

Tip: The felt itself does not have a fixed cutting level. A more aggressive compound increases cutting action, while progressively finer compounds move the same felt media toward higher gloss and final finishing.

2" Felt Polishing Quick Change Discs

For best results, dedicate one felt disc to each compound to prevent cross-contamination between polishing stages.

Safety Tips & Techniques

  • Use with a compatible 2" Type R quick-change rubber mandrel or backing pad.
  • Never exceed the 25,000 RPM maximum operating speed.
  • Confirm the disc is fully secured before starting the tool.
  • Apply compound sparingly rather than heavily loading the felt.
  • Keep the disc moving to reduce heat buildup.
  • Clean the workpiece before changing compounds.
  • Use a separate disc for each compound whenever possible.
  • Wear appropriate eye, hearing, respiratory, and hand protection.
  • Use dry only.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Felt can be used throughout the entire polishing sequence. The compound determines whether the disc performs a cutting, intermediate-polishing, coloring, or final-finishing role.
Yes. When paired with an appropriate cutting compound, felt can perform the initial polishing stage before progressing to finer compounds.
The felt acts as the polishing media and compound carrier. Much of the actual cutting and finishing action comes from the compound, so changing compounds changes how the system performs.
No. They are simply different polishing systems designed for different tools. Felt quick-change discs are ideal for die grinders and quick-change sanders, while conventional buffing wheels are better suited to drills, bench buffers, and polishing motors. Both systems can complete a full polishing sequence.
The compact 2" size provides excellent control and access to tight areas, contours, small components, and installed parts that can be difficult to reach with larger buffing wheels.
Yes. These discs contain no abrasive grain. Use the appropriate compound to create the desired cutting or finishing action.
Yes. We recommend one disc per compound to prevent coarse compound residue from contaminating finer polishing stages.
Use a 2" Type R Quick Change Rubber Mandrel compatible with the disc's R-Type connection.
These discs work well on stainless steel, steel, aluminum, brass, copper, and other metals. They can also be used on compatible plastics and acrylics with the correct polishing compound.
The maximum operating speed is 25,000 RPM.
