SANDING BELT & DISC CLEANING STICK - TWO PACK

The Benchmark Abrasives sanding belt & disc cleaning stick two pack gives you two reusable cleaning sticks for removing built-up sanding debris from abrasive surfaces. Press the stick against a loaded sanding belt, disc, or other compatible abrasive to lift accumulated material and restore a cleaner cutting surface before the abrasive grain itself is worn out.

Each stick measures 8-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 1-1/2", giving you a practical supply for repeated shop use. Keep one at your primary sanding station and the second at another machine, or simply have a spare ready when the first stick is eventually consumed.

How to Use

  1. Operate the sanding belt, disc, or other approved abrasive according to the machine manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Bring the cleaning stick into contact with the abrasive surface.
  3. Maintain contact for approximately 3–6 seconds to remove accumulated material.
  4. Remove the stick and inspect the abrasive.
  5. Repeat as needed when loading begins to reduce cutting performance.

Use only the pressure needed to clean the abrasive. Maintain a secure grip and keep hands clear of moving belts, discs, wheels, and pinch points.

When Should I Use a Cleaning Stick?

Use a cleaning stick when sanding debris begins filling the abrasive surface and reducing its ability to cut effectively. Cleaning the abrasive while usable grain remains can restore cutting performance and help you get more work from belts and discs before replacement.

The current Benchmark listing states that cleaning sticks can provide up to 30–50% more abrasive life. Actual results will vary depending on abrasive type, work material, loading, pressure, machine setup, and operating conditions.

Why Choose the Two Pack?

  • Keep one stick at multiple sanding stations
  • Have a backup ready when the first stick is consumed
  • Convenient for shops running more than one sanding machine
  • Reduce downtime by keeping abrasive cleaning supplies on hand

Cleaning Stick vs. Belt Butter

The two accessories address abrasive loading differently.

Cleaning Stick — Removes material that has already accumulated on the abrasive surface.

Belt Butter — Used during sanding to help reduce heat, friction, loading, and gumming before buildup becomes severe.

For applications that load abrasives quickly, the two can be used at different stages of the sanding process.

Safety Tips

  • Keep all machine guards in place.
  • Wear the eye, hearing, and respiratory protection required for the job. Follow your machine's instructions for clothing and gloves around moving abrasives.
  • Maintain control of the cleaning stick at all times.
  • Keep hands clear of moving belts, discs, wheels, and pinch points.
  • Follow the sanding machine manufacturer's operating instructions.
  • Confirm the abrasive and equipment are appropriate for cleaning-stick use before application.
