5" HOOK & LOOP SURFACE CONDITIONING DISCS - 10 PACK
Benchmark Abrasives 5" hook & loop surface conditioning discs combine the versatility of flexible nonwoven abrasive material with a convenient hook-and-loop attachment for fast disc changes. The open nylon web is filled with aluminum oxide abrasive grain to clean, blend, lightly deburr, refine scratches, remove light oxidation, and improve surface finish while conforming to the workpiece instead of cutting as aggressively as a conventional coated abrasive disc.
The larger 5" working surface makes these discs especially useful for conditioning broader areas while still following curves and irregular geometry. Available in Coarse, Medium, and Fine grades, they allow you to move from stronger surface cleaning and preparation through general blending and finer finish refinement without changing abrasive systems.
Quantity: 10 Discs

Performance
The open nonwoven construction provides controlled abrasive action while conforming to curves, contours, and irregular surfaces. Unlike a conventional coated abrasive that is designed for stronger stock removal, surface conditioning material is particularly useful when the goal is cleaning, blending, light deburring, and refining the existing surface.
Choose Coarse for stronger cleaning and surface preparation, Medium for general blending and refinement, and Fine for lighter finishing. Final surface appearance depends on the selected grade, starting surface, workpiece material, operating speed, applied pressure, and technique.
Hook & Loop Attachment
The loop-backed disc attaches directly to a compatible 5" hook-and-loop backing pad, allowing worn discs or different grades to be changed quickly without tools.
For threaded grinder-style applications, pair these discs with the Benchmark Abrasives 5" x 5/8"-11 Padded Hook & Loop Backing Pad when the complete tool and accessory combination meets all mounting and speed requirements.
Backing pad sold separately.

Machine Compatibility
These discs require a compatible 5" hook-and-loop backing pad. Machine compatibility is determined by the backing pad, mounting system, tool instructions, and the speed rating of every component in the assembly.
When using the Benchmark Abrasives 5" x 5/8"-11 Padded Hook & Loop Backing Pad, the backing pad is rated to a maximum of 10,000 RPM. Although the surface conditioning disc itself is rated to 12,000 RPM, the complete assembly must never exceed the lower 10,000 RPM backing-pad limit.
Do not select a machine based only on disc diameter or spindle thread. Confirm tool speed, backing-pad compatibility, mounting, and clearance before use.
Safety Tips
- Always use a compatible 5" hook-and-loop backing pad.
- Make sure the entire disc surface is securely attached to the backing pad before starting the tool.
- Never exceed the speed rating of the lowest-rated component in the complete assembly.
- When paired with the Benchmark Abrasives 5" x 5/8"-11 Padded Hook & Loop Backing Pad, maximum assembly speed is 10,000 RPM.
- Inspect the disc and backing pad for damage, excessive wear, or contamination before use.
-
- Use controlled pressure and allow the surface conditioning material to do the work.
- Follow the operating and safety instructions supplied with the power tool and backing pad.
