Unlike thin cut-off wheels that are limited strictly to edge cutting, this 1/8" pipeline wheel is designed for both cutting and light grinding, giving fabricators a versatile wheel for moving from the cut directly into cleanup and light material removal.

Made with aluminum oxide abrasive grain, the Type 27 depressed-center construction combines a substantial 1/8" wheel profile with the convenience of a 5/8"-11 threaded hub. It is designed for steel, stainless steel, and other approved metals and is especially useful for pipe, tubing, weldments, structural components, and fabrication work where reducing abrasive changes can save time.

The threaded hub mounts directly onto compatible 4-1/2" angle grinders with a 5/8"-11 spindle, including the Benchmark Abrasives 4-1/2" angle grinder. With a maximum rating of 13,500 RPM, this wheel provides a convenient hubbed option for cutting and light grinding when the proper guard and machine setup are used.

Use the manufacturer's hubbed-wheel mounting instructions, with full 5/8"-11 thread engagement and sufficient guard clearance. Do not clamp the hub between plain-arbor wheel flanges.

Use the guard and Type 27 mounting setup specified for the operation. Cutting and light grinding may require different guards; a wheel change may not be needed, but a guard change can be. Other models may also be compatible when they meet the same wheel and setup requirements.

Cutting & Grinding Performance

The 1/8" pipeline design separates this wheel from thin Type 27 cut-off wheels. It is specifically intended for cutting and light grinding, allowing operators to cut through the workpiece and then perform light edge, bevel, or weld cleanup without immediately changing abrasives.

The 5/8"-11 threaded hub makes wheel changes straightforward and eliminates the separate flange arrangement used with 7/8" arbor wheels. For heavier stock removal or sustained face grinding, use a dedicated Type 27 grinding wheel.
