Made with aluminum oxide abrasive grain, these Type 27 wheels are designed for cutting steel, stainless steel, and other approved metals. The depressed-center construction provides a different mounting profile than a flat Type 1 wheel while maintaining a cutting-only design for tubing, pipe, sheet metal, fasteners, fabricated assemblies, and everyday shop cutting.

With a 7/8" arbor and a 12,000 RPM maximum rating, this wheel is designed for compatible 5" angle grinders equipped with the proper cut-off guard, flanges, and mounting hardware. The machine must be specifically approved for a 5" bonded abrasive cut-off wheel and operate within the wheel's speed rating.

Use the grinder manufacturer's cutting guard and flanges specified for this Type 27 wheel. Match wheel size, thickness and arbor, and keep the machine's maximum speed at or below the wheel rating. Other models may also be compatible when they meet the same wheel and setup requirements.

Do not install this wheel on a 4-1/2" grinder simply because the arbor fits. The machine must be specifically approved for a 5" wheel.

Cutting Performance

The .045" profile provides a narrow kerf with reduced material removal for efficient cutting across common fabrication and repair applications. The 5" diameter also provides additional reach compared with 4-1/2" wheels while retaining the control of a thin cut-off wheel.

Despite its Type 27 depressed-center shape, this wheel is designed strictly for cutting. Do not use it for face grinding or side loading.
