7" X 7/8" CERAMIC RESIN FIBER DISCS – 25 PACK

Benchmark Abrasives 7" ceramic resin fiber discs deliver fast, aggressive stock removal and extended cutting life for demanding grinding applications. Engineered ceramic abrasive continuously micro-fractures under grinding pressure to expose fresh cutting edges, helping the disc maintain a strong cutting rate on stainless steel, high-nickel alloys, titanium, super alloys, and other difficult-to-grind metals.

Each disc combines premium ceramic abrasive with a heat-resistant resin bond and heavy-duty vulcanized fiber backing. The rigid backing supports the abrasive under pressure and helps transfer power efficiently to the workpiece for rapid material removal. Ceramic's cooler-cutting action makes it especially useful on heat-sensitive metals where excess heat can cause discoloration. Available in 24, 36, 50, 60, 80, and 120 grit, these larger 7" discs cover heavy grinding through blending and surface preparation.

These discs are designed for use on 7" right-angle grinders with a compatible 7" backing pad. A backing pad is required and sold separately.

Tip: Ceramic abrasive is designed to fracture and expose fresh cutting edges under grinding pressure. Consistent working pressure helps activate this self-sharpening action and maintain cutting efficiency.

Aluminum Oxide vs. Zirconia vs. Ceramic

Aluminum Oxide

Aluminum oxide is the economical choice for general-purpose grinding and everyday shop work.

Zirconia

Zirconia offers a step up in durability and cutting performance, making it well suited to sustained grinding, fabrication, and heavier stock removal.

Ceramic

Ceramic is the premium choice for demanding production grinding, stainless steel, titanium, high-nickel alloys, and applications where cutting speed, cooler grinding, and abrasive life are the priority.

For users working on difficult metals or high-production applications, Ceramic provides the strongest performance advantage of the three.

Safety Tips & Techniques

  • Always use a compatible backing pad specifically designed for resin fiber discs.
  • Inspect the disc and backing pad before use. Do not use damaged, cracked, torn, or moisture-compromised discs.
  • Never exceed the maximum RPM marked for the disc, backing pad, or grinder.
  • Keep the grinder guard properly installed and positioned.
  • Use appropriate eye and face protection, hearing protection, gloves, protective clothing, and respiratory protection for the material being worked.
  • Apply consistent working pressure to help activate the ceramic grain's self-sharpening action.
  • Keep the grinder moving across the workpiece to distribute heat and prevent gouging.
  • Store fiber discs in a clean, dry environment to protect the backing from moisture and damage.

Frequently Asked Questions

These discs are designed for demanding grinding applications including heavy stock removal, weld removal, weld leveling, beveling, deburring, shaping, blending, and surface preparation. The larger 7" diameter is especially useful on larger work areas and production grinding applications.
Ceramic abrasive is an engineered grain that micro-fractures during grinding to continually expose fresh cutting edges. This helps maintain aggressive cutting performance and extended abrasive life.
Choose Ceramic when maximum cutting speed, abrasive life, cooler grinding, and productivity are the priorities. Zirconia is an excellent step-up abrasive, but Ceramic provides the greater advantage in demanding, high-pressure grinding applications.
Yes. These discs require a compatible 7" x 5/8"-11 resin fiber disc backing pad for use on a compatible right-angle grinder.
Yes. Ceramic abrasive is particularly well suited to stainless steel because its fast cutting action helps reduce unnecessary heat buildup while maintaining a strong cutting rate.
Yes. Ceramic abrasive is an excellent choice for titanium, nickel, high-nickel alloys, and super alloys because these difficult-to-grind materials benefit from fast cutting and reduced heat generation.
No. These 7" Ceramic Resin Fiber Discs are for dry use only. Do not use them wet.
These 7" Ceramic Resin Fiber Discs are available in 24, 36, 50, 60, 80, and 120 grit.
The maximum rated speed for these 7" Ceramic Resin Fiber Discs is 8,600 RPM. Never exceed the rated speed of the disc, backing pad, or grinder.
Not necessarily. Aluminum Oxide is often the best value for general-purpose work, while Zirconia provides excellent durability for sustained grinding. Ceramic provides the greatest benefit in demanding applications where cutting speed, difficult materials, and abrasive life justify the premium.
