Abrasive Details
2" Ceramic Quick Change Discs
The included 36 grit ceramic quick change discs combine premium ceramic abrasive with an X-weight cloth backing for aggressive stock removal, grinding, deburring, and finishing. The ceramic grain continuously fractures during use to expose fresh cutting edges, while a built-in grinding aid helps reduce heat, glazing, and loading.
The Type R quick change connection makes disc changes fast and easy when paired with a compatible Type R mandrel. Their compact 2" size is ideal for flat surfaces, contours, edges, and hard-to-reach areas where larger abrasives cannot comfortably work.
Maximum RPM: 25,000
Use: Dry only
Compatible examples include: Benchmark Abrasives 2" Type R Quick Change Mandrel with the Benchmark Abrasives Straight Die Grinder or Benchmark Abrasives Right Angle Die Grinder.

1/2" x 18" Ceramic Sanding Belts
The included ceramic sanding belts are made in the USA and use premium micro-fracturing ceramic grain on a durable Y-weight polycotton cloth backing. As the grain wears, it fractures to expose fresh cutting edges for fast, consistent material removal and extended abrasive life.
The 36 grit belts provide aggressive grinding, shaping, weld removal, and dimensioning, while the 60 grit belts give you a smoother follow-up step for refining scratches and blending surfaces.
These belts use a butt joint and closed-coat construction, can run in either direction, and are suitable for both wet and dry applications.
4-1/2" x 7/8" T29 Zirconia High Density Flap Discs
The included high-density flap discs use premium zirconia abrasive and pack approximately 40% more abrasive per flap than standard-density discs, providing longer working life for demanding grinding and blending applications.
The layered flap construction continually exposes fresh abrasive as the disc wears, helping maintain consistent cutting performance under higher heat and pressure. Their T29 15° angled face concentrates abrasive contact for aggressive grinding on flat welds, plate, edges, and broad metal surfaces.
The included 40, 60, 80, and 120 grits let you progress from heavier stock removal into increasingly refined blending and finishing without changing abrasive families.
Maximum RPM: 13,500
Compatible examples include: Benchmark Abrasives 4-1/2" Angle Grinder and other compatible 4-1/2"–5" angle grinders using 7/8" arbor abrasive discs.
3" x 1/16" x 3/8" T1 Premium Thin Cut-Off Wheels
The included Type 1 thin cut-off wheels are built for fast, controlled cutting during fabrication and automotive bodywork. Their compact 3" diameter makes them especially useful for sheet metal, body panels, tubing, brackets, and confined areas where a larger cut-off wheel may be difficult to control.
The thin 1/16" profile minimizes the amount of material removed during the cut while helping produce fast, precise cuts.
Use only with a properly guarded cut-off tool designed for a 3" diameter wheel with a 3/8" arbor.
Applications & Performance
The Melty Pack is built around an actual fabrication workflow rather than a random assortment of abrasives. Start with the 3" thin cut-off wheels for panel cuts, tubing, brackets, and body modifications. Move to the 36 grit ceramic quick change discs and sanding belts for weld removal, shaping, edge cleanup, and aggressive stock removal.
From there, use the 60 grit ceramic belts and progressively finer zirconia flap discs to refine surfaces, blend welds, reduce scratches, and prepare the work for the next stage of fabrication or finishing.

The ceramic quick change discs and flap discs can also be used on selected nonmetal materials such as fiberglass, plastic, hard rubber, wood, and stone where appropriate for the application.
Machine Compatibility
The Melty Pack contains abrasives for several different fabrication tools.
The 2" Ceramic Quick Change Discs are designed for compatible die grinders and hand-held pneumatic grinders using a Type R quick change mandrel. Compatible examples include: Benchmark Abrasives Straight Die Grinder and Benchmark Abrasives Right Angle Die Grinder.
The 1/2" x 18" Ceramic Sanding Belts are designed for compatible portable file sanders, mini belt sanders, and narrow power belt sanders.
The 4-1/2" x 7/8" T29 Flap Discs are designed for compatible 4-1/2"–5" angle grinders. Compatible examples include: Benchmark Abrasives 4-1/2" Angle Grinder.
The 3" Thin Cut-Off Wheels require a properly guarded cut-off tool designed for a 3" wheel with a 3/8" arbor.
Always confirm abrasive dimensions, attachment type, arbor size, and maximum operating speed before installation.
Safety Tips
- Always wear appropriate PPE, including eye protection, hearing protection, respiratory protection when required, gloves, and suitable protective clothing.
- Keep all machine guards installed and properly positioned.
- Never exceed the maximum RPM marked on an abrasive product.
- Verify abrasive diameter, arbor or attachment type, and machine compatibility before installation.
- Inspect discs, belts, and cut-off wheels before each use. Never use damaged abrasive products.
- Do not twist, bend, side-load, or force Type 1 cut-off wheels during cutting.
- Use a lighter or feathered approach when less stock removal is required with flap discs.
- Allow the abrasive to do the work. Excessive pressure can increase heat, reduce abrasive life, and make the tool more difficult to control.
- Secure the workpiece before cutting or grinding.
- Direct sparks and grinding debris away from yourself, other people, combustible materials, and finished surfaces.
