BLUE NATURAL LUSTER POLISHING COMPOUND - 1 POUND BAR
Our Benchmark Abrasives Blue High-Gloss Polishing Compound is designed to bridge the gap between aggressive cutting and final finishing. With a 3/10 cut rating, it provides enough cutting action to continue refining the surface after the initial cutting stage, while its 9/10 gloss rating dramatically improves brightness and clarity on stainless steel, steel, titanium, aluminum, and other metals.
This is the compound to reach for when you want to develop a smooth, bright natural luster before the final high-gloss step. Its combination of light cutting action and strong gloss makes it an extremely versatile polishing compound, refining the surface left by heavier cutting compounds while preparing it for the final finishing compound.
Clean, Easy-Handling Packaging: Each polishing compound bar is wrapped in a protective, easy-to-handle package designed to keep the compound off your hands and make application to the buffing wheel or felt polishing media cleaner and more controlled. A convenient peel-open zipper runs along the side of the package, allowing you to expose only the portion of the compound you need while leaving the rest of the bar covered and protected. As the bar wears down, simply peel the packaging back further. A color-coded bottom provides quick visual identification, making it easy to grab the correct compound when multiple cutting and finishing compounds are being used at the same workstation.
Quantity: 1 piece
Dimensions
Weight – 1 lb. bar
Product Features
High-gloss polishing compound with light cutting action
Recommended for stainless steel, steel, titanium, aluminum, and other metals
Cut Rating: 3/10
Gloss Rating: 9/10
Refines finer surface marks left by heavier cutting compounds
Excellent second-stage compound in multi-step polishing systems
Prepares the surface for a finer final finishing compound
Solid bar compound for use with buffing wheels and felt polishing media
TIP: Use Blue after Brown when polishing brass, copper, and soft metals, or after Pink when polishing hard metals. For precious metals and mirror-finishing applications, Blue provides the natural-luster polishing stage before the final high-gloss compound.
Safety Tips/techniques:
Lightly bring the compound bar into contact with the spinning buffing wheel or felt polishing media to charge the polishing surface.
Blue polishing compound is used as an intermediate or second-stage compound in multi-step polishing processes. It helps refine the finer marks left by heavier cutting compounds while significantly increasing surface gloss.
Not unless you’re looking for a natural luster finish as opposed to a high-gloss finish. Although it produces a high level of gloss, Benchmark recommends Blue as a second-stage compound in several multi-step polishing systems. It is designed to refine the surface and prepare it for the final finishing compound.
The gloss rating describes the level of shine the compound can produce, while its position in the polishing sequence describes how it is best used. Blue produces excellent gloss while retaining enough cutting action to make it especially effective between the initial cutting and final finishing stages.
Yes. Stainless steel is one of the primary recommended applications for this compound.
Yes. Titanium is specifically recommended for this compound.
Yes. It is recommended for aluminum and aluminum alloys.
Yes. Using a dedicated wheel for each compound helps prevent coarser abrasive residue from contaminating the next polishing stage. Check out our buffing wheel use guide for more information.
