Benchmark Abrasives Economy TiN Coated Step Drill Bit 1/4"-1-3/8" (10 Steps) are ideal for making burr-free holes in aluminum, wood, copper, plastic, and sheet metal. The Titanium Nitride coated HSS Step Drill Bits are suitable for home light maintenance work and feature a spiral double flute design that provides longer life and better chip removal and a self-centering split point to prevent wobbling. These drill bits are optimized for Portable (or Pillar) drilling machines usage and electric powered rotary drills.

Step Drill Bits are ideal for drilling clean, precise holes in metal up to 1/4" thick. Engineered specifically for thin materials like sheet metal, these bits drill and ream to size in one motion—no need to switch out bits for different diameters. As the bit advances, each step gradually enlarges the hole to the next size. Safety Tips/techniques:

• Always wear proper PPE to include (but not limited to) safety glasses, hearing protection, respirator, and hand protection. Keep all guards in place on your machine.
• For best results bring the step bit to the workpiece keeping a 90 degree angle between the cutting surface and the cutting head. Using the tool at steeper angles (for example 45 degrees), could apply excess pressure on the head and snap the shank.
