3-1/2" X 4" RUBBER EXPANDING DRUM FOR SANDING BANDS
The Benchmark Abrasives 3-1/2" x 4" Rubber Expanding Drum is designed as a reusable sanding-band holder for portable drum sanding and surface-finishing applications. Rather than using permanently bonded abrasive media, this rubber drum works with a properly matched sanding band, allowing you to change abrasive grit as the job progresses without replacing the entire drum assembly.
As the drum rotates, the rubber body expands to help grip the installed sanding band securely during use. This makes it a practical choice for sanding, blending, and surface refinement where the operator wants the flexibility to select the abrasive band based on the material, starting surface, and desired finish. The abrasive performance and grit are determined by the sanding band installed on the holder.

An adapter or additional mounting hardware may be required. Use a setup that securely holds this 3-1/2" x 4" rubber expanding drum and its matching sanding band, allows proper guard clearance, and stays within the speed limits of the holder, band, and machine.
Safety Tips
- Never exceed the holder's maximum speed of 4,000 RPM.
- The sanding band, holder, and machine must all be rated for the intended operating speed. Always follow the lowest applicable speed limit in the assembled system.
- Use dry only.
- Install only a sanding band specifically matched to the dimensions and requirements of this expanding holder.
- Confirm that the band is fully seated and securely retained before operation.
- Disconnect the machine from its power source before installing, removing, or inspecting the holder or sanding band.
- Stop immediately if abnormal vibration, slipping, or movement of the sanding band occurs.
- Inspect the rubber holder and sanding band for damage before use.
- Keep machine guards and auxiliary handles installed as specified by the tool manufacturer.
- Wear appropriate eye, hearing, respiratory, and hand protection for the material and sanding application.
