SD-9 WOOD CARVING TUNGSTEN CARBIDE ROTARY BURR

The SD-9 wood carving tungsten carbide rotary burr is built for fast, controlled material removal on compatible 4-1/2" to 5" angle grinders. Its 1" ball-shaped tungsten carbide cutting head is ideal for aggressive rough shaping, hollowing bowls and cavities, forming rounded recesses, freehand carving, and contouring in both softwoods and hardwoods.

A 5/8"-11 direct-thread mount installs directly onto the grinder spindle with no adapter or collet required, creating a secure connection for demanding carving work. The structured carbide teeth remove stock quickly while the ball profile gives you control over depth and shape and reaches into recessed areas and curved contours that conventional sanding discs cannot easily access. Use it dry with light, controlled pressure for early-stage shaping, then follow with sanding or surface-finishing abrasives to refine the finished surface.

Check the exact grinder's instructions, thread engagement and guard clearance before use

    Safety Tips

    • Never exceed the 15,000 RPM maximum.
    • Use the burr dry only.
    • Apply light pressure and allow the carbide cutting surface to remove material. Excessive pressure can reduce tool life and control.
    • Make controlled passes rather than forcing the burr deeply into the workpiece.
    • Secure the workpiece before beginning.
    • Verify that the burr is properly seated and securely threaded onto the grinder.
    • Keep all required machine guards in place and ensure adequate accessory clearance.
    • Always wear appropriate PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, respiratory protection, and hand protection.
    • Do not use on electric drills, small rotary tools, or machines with incompatible mounting systems.
    • This is a rough-shaping tool. Follow with appropriate sanding abrasives to achieve the desired final surface.
