Specialties:  Body, paint, mechanical, fabrication
Tell us about yourself - what inspired you to get into your trade? And how long?
In 1968 my girlfriend (now wife) and I went to the drag races for our first date. I was hooked on cars from then on. Worked on cars for a living as a body man, then as a hobby ever since.

What keeps you motivated throughout the day?
Seeing what the next step brings
What is your favorite shop tool and why?
Probably the DA.  It is the most versatile tool when it comes to finish work on metals.

What's your favorite piece that you've worked on?
My 55' Chevrolet 2dr 210 wagon.
If you could have any job as it relates to question 1 what would it be and what would you do with that?
I think working in an automotive machine shop would be cool. Bringing parts to life after machine work.

What BA product is your favorite and why?
5" zirconia grinder disc. Great for roughing metal, or cleaning fabricated parts and rounding edges.
What BA product surprised you in terms of quality - what about it set it apart from the competition?
Again, the 5" zircon grinder disc. Seems to outlast other discs in the industry. Stays sharp and won't heat up the metal.

What tips and tricks do you have for us that might be different or eye opening for others to try with BA product?
Try the coarse flap discs for stripping paint, or rust.  I break it loose with a coarse belt sander, hit it with the flap disc and most of the work is done.
If there was one person you could collaborate with - who would it be and why?
Probably the people repairing today's Corvettes. The body has changed so much from when I was repairing them.

Do you have any advice for the next generation that you wish you had when you first started?
Finish that last 10%.  Lots of craftsmen get to a point where it is "Good enough". Take a last look for that 10% of finish work.
What are your future plans for your shop?
Going to turn it over to my Son-in-law.

A Note From Leo
Thanks for sharing your story with us, Rick! Those are some sweet classics you've restored. Personally, I dig the Bel Air the most!
