Tell us about yourself - what inspired you to get into your trade? And how long? My husband left the oil field about 5 yrs ago to pursue a new adventure. Metal art, wind chimes, and fire pits. In the beginning I helped anyway I could. Grinding, stripping, going over his drawings with a sharpie so he could cut. I was in awe.. so a year ago I started with my Jack o lanterns. Learning to draw, cut and weld! Then I started to build my own fire pits as well. Now the world around me is my inspiration.
|
What keeps you motivated throughout the day? My motivation comes from the joy and meaning to our clients. Plus I get such a rush when I design even more when it’s completed and I nailed it. |
What is your favorite shop tool and why? My Panorama.. hood/respirator. Metal is fun but hot and dirty |
What's your favorite piece that you've worked on? For the Jacks it has been the Pegasus, it led to more amazing pieces that gave me such a challenge. Fire Pits the Luna, my first design on my own. |
If you could have any job as it relates to question 1 what would it be and what would you do with that? I would love to learn to blacksmith then maybe my pieces would be so heavy. |
What BA product is your favorite and why?
My absolute favorite benchmark product is the flap wheels. They make my welding look professional .. I am getting so much better. lol
|
What BA product surprised you in terms of quality - what about it set it apart from the competition?
My husband and I were pleasantly surprised that benchmark makes so many sizes and applications on the grinder and flapper wheels. They hold up well and get the job done!
|
What tips and tricks do you have for us that might be different or eye opening for others to try with BA product?
I am a rookie, my suggestions keep trying until you find what works!!
|
If there was one person you could collaborate with - who would it be and why?
Honestly I collaborate with that guy now. My husband JP Morin. Without his hard work and believing in me I wouldn’t have thought to try and make this successful.
|
Do you have any advice for the next generation that you wish you had when you first started?
Don’t wait, if you’re passionate about something do it. No matter how old you are. I’m 52 and just now starting, I can only imagine what I could accomplish if I started sooner.
|
What are your future plans for your shop?
I plan on doing this as long as my body is able.
