Benchmark Abrasives 4-1/2" ceramic resin fiber discs deliver fast, aggressive stock removal and extended cutting life for demanding grinding applications. Engineered ceramic abrasive continuously micro-fractures under grinding pressure to expose fresh, sharp cutting edges, helping the disc maintain its cutting rate longer than conventional Aluminum Oxide or Zirconia abrasives. This makes ceramic an excellent choice for stainless steel, high-nickel alloys, super alloys, and production environments where speed and abrasive life matter.
Each disc combines premium ceramic abrasive with a heat-resistant resin bond and heavy-duty vulcanized fiber backing. The rigid backing provides strong support under grinding pressure and efficiently transfers power to the workpiece for rapid material removal. Ceramic's cooler-cutting action is especially beneficial on heat-sensitive metals where excessive heat can cause discoloration or affect the workpiece. Available from aggressive 24 grit through finer 120 grit, these discs cover everything from heavy weld removal and beveling to blending and pre-finish surface preparation.
These discs are designed for use on right-angle grinders with a compatible 4-1/2" backing pad. A backing pad is required and sold separately.

Backing Pad Required: Use with a compatible 4-1/2" x 5/8"-11 resin fiber disc backing pad. Backing pads are sold separately.
Use only with a grinder, guard, backing pad, and retaining hardware approved for the same disc diameter and attachment. The grinder's rated speed must not exceed the maximum RPM of the lowest-rated component in the system.

Tip: Ceramic abrasive is designed to fracture and expose new cutting edges as it works. Consistent grinding pressure helps activate this self-sharpening action. Using too little pressure can allow the abrasive to rub instead of fracture, reducing cutting efficiency and limiting the performance advantage of ceramic grain.
Aluminum Oxide vs. Zirconia vs. Ceramic
Aluminum oxide is the economical choice for general-purpose grinding, lighter-duty applications, and everyday shop work where maximum abrasive life is not the primary concern.
Zirconia offers a step up in durability and cutting performance. Its tough, self-sharpening grain performs well under sustained pressure and provides longer life than Aluminum Oxide for demanding steel fabrication, weld removal, and stock removal.
Ceramic is the premium choice for the most demanding grinding applications. Its engineered grain micro-fractures at a finer level to continually expose sharp cutting edges, providing faster cutting, longer abrasive life, and cooler grinding when used under appropriate pressure. Ceramic is particularly valuable for stainless steel, high-nickel alloys, titanium, super alloys, and high-production environments.

Safety Tips & Techniques
- Always use a compatible backing pad specifically designed for resin fiber discs.
- Inspect the disc and backing pad before use. Do not use damaged, cracked, torn, or moisture-compromised discs.
- Never operate the grinder above the maximum RPM marked for the disc or backing pad. The grinder's rated speed must not exceed the lowest accessory rating; follow all tool and accessory instructions.
- Keep the grinder guard properly installed and positioned.
